Basically, from memory of the one time I bothered to click on it, a shortcut to a website that few people wanted to visit. > I've honestly never ever understood Dashboard. Dashboard was largely a gimmick that most people occasionally only found themselves in by accident. Most of the widgets were worthless toys. It was also ridiculous hobbled by being a separate overlaid layer, a fact that Apple later tried to rectify by allowing widgets to work on the "normal" layer. > Some people use Garbageband, I guess. "Some people" use pretty much anything. Pretty much all of the iLife software was used by "some people", but for the vast majority most of it was a waste of disc space. Over the years of setting up Macs for various people (a variety of ages, both personal users and business users), I can't think of even one who wanted or needed to use iChat, iMovie, Garagaeband, etc. Most users simply want to be able to use the internet / email, crate text documents / simple DTP, etc.
