Had considered going to Office 2012, but: The newest release for Mac is called MSOffice 2013. The prior version is = the ver. 2011. > 1) Are there fewer odd things than in O-2008? No, just the opposite. Both ver. 2011 and 2013 are far much worse than=20 MSO 2008. > 2) Do people find they get used to this new-fangled ribbon or does it > continue to be a monstrosity? I don't like the ribbons and along with the monster-menus these take all = too much space up - even on a 27" monitor. Hereto I find both MSO 2011=20 and 2013 way too slow. > [1] Can't quite put my finger on what I mean by oddities, just that I > have to be continually careful when doing stuff. Graphs and charts have always been a problem with the newer versions of=20 MSO - both Mac and Windows versions. So instead I stick with my MSO 2008 = and have installed the newest Apache OpenOffice 4.0.0. It is quite=20 stable though it is a 'release candidate'. I've also found that=20 compatibility with Excel now works fairly good. - Earlier versions of=20 OpenOffice might lose cross references, but I haven't observed this in=20 ver. 4.0 until now. - Don't work with graphs and charts, so here I can't = tell which is the better one. I have OpenOffice on both my Macs and my Windows machine and they are=20 set up identically in OpenOffice and as close as possible in MSO 2008=20 (Mac) and 2003 (Win).
