Yeah, in my dumber youthful days I messed around with British sports cars. 
The Sprite had two carburetters which you synchronized using a short 
length of rubber hose to listen to each and get the whistles to match.

The terminology wasn't as bad as the unique British fasteners and spanner 
sizing.
