Most are completely forgotten but there are historical markers and visitor centers that keep ones like the Lincoln Highway alive. Even the numbered routes like 'Route 66' are now interstates. The small towns that were bypassed by the interstate often have nostalgic stretches of the old Route 66. Around here US 10 became I-90. There still addresses that refer to US Highway 10 but since there was never a song or TV show there's no nostalgia.
