I've modified an Open Source newsreader (xvnews) that no-one uses any more and something else that I've now forgotten. I started to look at fixing a really irritating UI glitch in "SimpleScan". I downloaded the source, and since I've been doing this shit for a looooong time, I first tried to build the unmodified source. It wouldn't build. It turns out that Canonical do all kinds of weird stuff to get software to fit into their world. I gave up. Learning curve too steep.
