Full disclosure: I was raised Catholic before Vatican II. Tomorrow (Good Friday) there was a special prayer for the conversion of the Christ- killers before they burned in eternal hellfire. I think the kindler, gentler Church has toned it down if not eliminating it entirely. However the political aspects do play an important part and it's important to maintain proper thought at all times.
