I'd call it a combination of arrogance and perhaps masochism - he enjoys
knowing it bothers others and enjoys not doing anything about it.  The 'Net is

SLRN newsreader at least offers helpful killfile functionality where you simply
'downgrade' a user's posts.  That's easily circumvented by the offende
nymshifting, which remains a weakness of Usenet.  The really effective approach
is to have everyone systematically ignore the offender until he gets bored and
goes away.  Not easy ...
