That seems to be very slow.  On my laptop (newish, but 3 years old now)
I can calculate it in almost no time at all:

$ time ./fib 100000 >x
./fib 100000 > x  0.00s user 0.00s system 44% cpu 0.009 total
$ wc x
    1     1 20900 x

I think you have a bug.  The 100,000th Fibonacci number is 20,899 digits long.
