I've used a number of scripting languages including awk, Perl, BASIC, JEAN (similar to DEC Focus), PHP, Python and bash and have tried to use Javascript, which I could not get on with at all. Its documentation seemed very poor and I really hated its debugging and diagnostic capabilities. All the other languages I mentioned have better debugging and diagnostics, with awk, Perl, PHP, Python and bash being outstandingly better. I can develop much faster in awk, PHP and Bash than in the others. -- martin@ | Martin Gregorie gregorie. | Essex, UK org |
