In Amforth, the floating point wordset is a relatively heavyweight
optional library, since it has to implement the floating point
arithmetic in software.  If you don't have the wordset loaded, there's
no reason to make the text interpreter able to parse floating point
literals.  So parsing them is done by a recognizer that's loaded with
the library.  I think that was the original motivation for recognizers.
