I didn't happen to notice any examples of "a good C > book" in perusing the wiki -- would anyone be able to make some > suggestions? I have some suggestions for references. These are *not* tutorials. This newsgroup's FAQ list, , is good (but somewhat out of date in some places). I particularly recommend section 6, which does a good job of clearing up the confusion about the relationship between arrays and pointers. Harbison & Steele's "C: A Reference Manual" is a good reference. The latest edition is the 5th, published in 2002. cppreference.com is good for quickly looking up things. It covers both C and C++. The latest public draft of the 2011 C standard is N1570, http://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg14/www/docs/n1570.pdf This is definitely *not* a tutorial and is not intended for beginning C programmers. I suggest grabbing a copy anyway and taking a look at it anyway. If you follow this newsgroup, you'll see a lot of references to it. -- Keith Thompson (The_Other_Keith) kst-u@mib.org Working, but not speaking, for JetHead Development, Inc. "We must do something.
