There is a difference between software which is "for free" and software which is "free". "Free software" is usually open source and you can use the source code for your own versions with any modifications you want to apply to it. Is the source code of iMovie, Garage Band, Mail, Safari, Passwords, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Music, Messages, Photos, Time Machine open and available?
