Endless war is clearly what the intelligence community and the MIC want, and at least if the majority of the fighting is overseas that will mean less warfare directed against domestic populations and their property. Even more, it will solidify the notion of a pernicious enemey of the West, which is a necessary factor in the psychology of Western citizens who would otherwise turn on their fellow citizens in order to supply that necessary enemy. The notion that the public has any meaningful input to foreign policy is utterly absurd, but obviously a necessary fiction in the narrative of politics in which voting and elections are supposed to matter. -- We all cannot be intelligent, but at least we can all be polite.
