Apple has had several recalls during the years for MacBook Pros
exhibiting graphic issues due to faulty NVIDIA graphics hardware and
faulty solder workmanship. 2007 was quite a long time ago, though; so it
may be too late to act on it. 

At any rate, if you make an appointment to take it into an Apple Retail
store, they can run a special diagnostic program on it to find out
what's wrong. They can also tell you how much it would cost to repair,
assuming they still repair them. I'd bring it in and let them look at
it.
