ChomeOS *is* something different from the standard desktop Linux which is
generally discussed. Sure, it has a Linux kernel but it has a completely
different front end and, in general, runs completely different software.
More importantly, it has one developer setting the focus on the basic UI
design decisions... and based largely on that (and its price) it is doing
very well in the market, MUCH better than any of the Linux desktop distros
which lack such direction and focus.

It is excellent support for what I have been saying for years -- it is not
MS or Apple which holds desktop Linux back, it is desktop Linux itself.

And it is why I focus on how we can get desktop Linux to serve people better
and compete better... being honest about its pros and cons and discussing
how we can help the whole ecosystem improve so it will break out of its
niche market AND serve (essentially) everyone who uses it better. I want to
see it offer more choice, for example. But the "advocates" of COLA see that
as a threatening form of advocacy to focus on... which is sorta weird.
