Ah, CSS supervenes. Not verified but makes sense. NN 4.76 ignores CSS
so I'm used to seeing pages un-jiggered thereby.

A plug-in/add-on for FF?

How do I arrange that my user-space browser will proxy all my requests
through a localhost utility that will (a) detect incoming responses
that are HTML and (b) edit a response according to rules that I can
specify?
I do this for a couple of specific sites that I visit often. Browser
sends request to Apache on localhost; Apache runs cgi-bin script to
send URL data, fetch (possibly unpacking chunked replies), edit and
return results to browser. I haven't figured out how to generalize
this.
One annoyance that this would reduce is that, even with js and images
disabled, an even slightly modern browser acts on IMG, LINK or META
tags to fetch ancilliary js and other image files that are
subsequently unused. PITA on dialup, sometimes increasing usless data
bulk by a factor of 10.

Indeed, TYVM.
