It is likely the BASIC ROM is an Atari mask type ROM, 24 pins vs. 28 like you would see on a 2764. These are just a guesses: PO probably had a modified OS and maybe expanded RAM. The modified OS could have been anything from something compatible with older software to one with built in high speed disk routines. Ram expansions sometimes use the 6520 PIA CS pin to the BASIC ROM for banking RAM. Heck, I used to replace the ROM with ASM/ED ROM so who knows? B&C Computer Visions at www.Myatari.com has the BASIC chip for $12. Some people would prefer to leave the built in BASIC out of the computer and just use a BASIC cartridge. That way if you did decide to expand the memory you have the PIA pin available. Just for the record, I think everyone has switched to flash ROMs. I seem to be the last man standing using UV erasable EPROMs. You probably should go that route with respect to a replacement OS. There are images of OS as well as BASIC for that matter if you want to burn your own. Rick
