luck.

nope.

hp printers rarely clog, but in the unlikely event one does, it doesn't
matter because both the print head and ink are replaced. any clog is
tossed along with the old ink.

that's actually a big *advantage* of hp printers. on the other hand,
every time the combo is replaced, the printer needs to be recalibrated,
making it a very poor choice for photos (along with other reasons).

with ink jet printers where only the ink is replaced, a head clog means
running ink-wasting clean cycles hoping that it works without burning
out the heads in the process. if the heads end up fried, the printer
will need to be replaced. at best, it's a lot of wasted ink, paper and
time.

aftermarket inks won't have the same colour gamut as original inks and
won't be consistent batch to batch (especially if you buy whatever is
on sale that week). the ink is lower quality (that's why it's cheaper)
and will probably fade sooner. it might also dry out due to age sooner
than genuine inks, causing a clog. if aftermarket ink has pigment
particles larger than the print head nozzles, it *will* clog (basic
physics).

not really.

in fact, it's probably cheaper than a high end ink jet printer.
