Does an automatic-only licence act as a provisional licence if the driver wants to drive a manual: does he just put L plates on and have a qualified driver sitting alongside him. Always assuming that he has the *skill* (as opposed to the authorisation) to drive a manual, of course. Or must a driver explicitly apply for a "manual" provisional licence, even if he holds an "automatic" full licence?
