Are Mancunians the most honest people in the country?

If your Facebook responses to an article we published yesterday are to be
believed it really is true.

A fascinating social experiment carried out by three pals from Manchester was
designed to test just how many of their fellow Mancs would return a 'dropped'
wallet to its rightful owner.

The overwhelming majority of people who were caught on camera during the
experiment by Modi, Sam, and Tee returned the wallet to the person who dropped
it.

**In response to the article readers came forward with their own examples of Mancunian honesty, goodwill and kindness.**

**Sarah Nixon** wrote: "My brother was cycling home from work through Stretford when three lads in an Audi started beeping and flashing him. They followed him to Sale he didn't want to stop but in the end they got along side him and asked if he had lost something. He stopped and realised his wallet had fell out of his pocket these lads had turned their car around and caught up with him to return it so everyone's not all bad."

**Michael Collis** wrote: "Left my mobile phone on a tram last week and some very kind lady rang my other half to say she'd found it and if she could leave it somewhere for me to collect!!! Manchester does have some honest people!"

A number of readers made a favourable comparison between Manchester and _a
lesser UK city._

**James-Elliott Paul Kennerley** wrote: "Manchester is full of the nicest people anywhere. People you don't know say hi to you when walking down the street. Don't see none of that in London and whenever you see someone blankly looking in either direction and back at their phone at a map that makes no sense there's always someone stopping and asking if they need help! Love our Manchester!"

**Lee James Kall** wrote: "My wallet fell out of my pocket once lucky some guy seen me leave my work and took it in so thankful I'm a Manc don't think anyone in London would do the same thing."

**Hannah Brindle** wrote: "My brother had lost his wallet walking through Manchester city centre everything was in that wallet he thought it had gone. That week he had a knock at the door and the person who had found it had looked at his address on his license and posted it recorded delivery back to him. We couldn't believe it. Whoever you are I salute you."

Another favourable comparison - this time Birmingham.

**Khadija Mohamoud** wrote: "I was taking my bins outside the other day when I dropped my 20 quid at my door step. After 5 min someone knocked at door and asked if I lost something and at moment I was looking for the money all over the house. I moved to Manchester about a year ago for fresh start from Birmingham so yea the much different between them."

### Bravo Manchester. Well done.
