Not all tasks are important enough to make that mandatory.

I teach Windows for a non-profit organisation. Privately I use macOS
most of the time and as fall back I have two Linux laptops which are
always at the same level as the Macs. I still believe that macOS is the
most stable and optically the most attractive OS. A Linux Ubuntu running
Wayland comes very close on my 27" Dell screen.

The FOSS software I use most is Firefox, Thunderbird and Libre Office
on all systems.

Another CSAM-desaster by Apple would be the end of macOS for me. What I
also would never accept is that Apple - like in the UK - hast to stop
E2E-encryption of iCloud (most of it) because the government is
blackmailing Apple to open backdoors. The UK-situation is not acceptable
for a Democracy.
