Have you specified that you refuse cookies ?
If so it would not remember any pre-settings. etc although that said these
cookies should be required and be able to opt out.

I do not use HSBC as I dropped them as one of my bankers years ago after
seeing what they support around the world (China for example) but Telegraph
I have no such problems and I do reject cookies (using firefox).
