"Many young Thai men become ordained Buddhist monks, even if temporarily. 
It’s a way of honoring one’s family and serving the religious community. 
But this isn’t an option for most Thais living in the US. Char Daston from 
member station WPLN attended the ordination of one man in Murfreesboro, 
Tennessee, who took on the challenge of becoming a monk."
