I was there this morning, and saw the new signage on the long-empty former Nawton Countdown <https://www.1news.co.nz/2024/04/27/new-hamilton-supermarket-could-be-a-game-changer/>. It’s apparently opening next weekend. You got to give the owners credit for persevering in spite of all the issues around crime against retailers. I hope this pays off for them. Seems like the Commerce Commission’s pressure on the supermarkets has been paying off. You may remember Sue Chetwin, who was head of Consumer NZ before Jon Duffy took over. Now she’s with the Grocery Action Group.
