At one time I looked at https://github.com/larsmagne/reticule but I had the impression it was not finished back then. It was somehow incomplete and I could not make sense of it. I would happily look at it again. A system that's already ready to be a gmane-like system seems like awesome, though I feel the installation of such a thing is not easy to do.
