Just in case that's not clear: I'm not trying to get rid of you as if
you were a burden (which you're clearly not), I'm suggesting you get
recognized as an uploading DD (which you certainly qualify for
already!).

You certainly don't need to be any kind of programmer (professional or
self-taught) to be a DD.

Given a package that you'd like to upload, are you able to look around
in its source code, spot issues or things you want to improve, to come
up with a patch that you'd be confident to upload? That's what matters.
That's already happening for the packages you're DM-allowed to upload.

When facing an issue or question, do you pick a random solution, hope
for the best, upload, and watch the fireworks? Or do you ask others,
gather feedback, and come up with a solution that has high chances to
work? Definitely the latter, and that's what matters.

Being knowledgeable about packages you're uploading (be it via a
sponsor, a DM approval for this package or because you're a DD) is
important. But that doesn't mean you need to understand and know its
codebase by heart. Being reasonably sure that the changes to be uploaded
are improving the situation as a whole, minimizing risks on the rest of
the ecosystem (other packages in general, not breaking the installer in
this specific case) is really what seems to be most important to me.

You're definitely acquainted with the a bunch of things in the installer
ecosystem, you're also knowledgeable about l10n topics, and you're
definitely an excellent team player.

As far as I'm concerned, the only bug is that your key is not in the
right keyring! :)

I suppose you already went through questions/checks around the Social
Contract, Debian Free Software Guidelines, Debian Machine Usage
Policies, etc. during the non-uploading DD application, so I'm not
putting any focus on those (important nonetheless!) topics.

I'd imagine the main difference between both types of application to be
around… package manangement/uploads. And you definitely know how to
upload packages already, as evidenced by:
