That patch didn't resolve the issue. Read-only fs did not happen any more after that first time, but I still see those messages.

There is quite a lot of activity about this issue on Ubuntu, that I didn't notice before. They are applying all the upstream patches to the driver and still aren't able to confirm that the problem is fixed. See:
