VC++ 2019 error "one or more multiply defined symbols found ..."

My program compiles OK, but ends with the fatal error
"LNK1169: one or more multiply defined symbols found":
but gives no indication as to what these symbols are.

Is there anybody able to tell me how I might be able to
find this information?
