You have to specify the letters you want to match (change), not what
they would become after the change.
imadev:~$ var=FOO; echo "${var,F}" "${var,,O}"
fOO Foo
imadev:~$ var="ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP"; echo "${var,,[AEIOU]}"
aBCDeFGHiJKLMNoP
