Den Atari ST gab es anfangs AFAIK sogar nur ohne Floppy *drin*. ;-)

Bei Erscheinen des Atari ST 1985 eigentlich sonst überall, also dass
5,25" üblich war: != Dateisysteme/Formate/SD/DD uswusf. In Deutschland
sowieso. Da haben 1985 aus monetären Gründen zu Hause noch nicht wenige
User mit Datasetten hantiert. 500 bis 1000 Mark waren damals halt schon
eine Hausnummer für ein solches Diskettenlaufwerk.

Außerdem natürlich nicht den Commodore 64 zu vergessen: Floppy zwar noch
immer recht teuer, aber großer Vorteil durch relativ billige Disks,
Locher und Raubkopien via Schulhof.

BTW: Hat Atari eigentlich selbst keine 5,25"-Laufwerke für den ST
angeboten? Das hat ja sogar Commodore beim Amiga, obgleich ich selbst
tatsächlich noch nie eines in freier Wildbahn zu Gesicht bekommen habe.

Ansonsten war 5,25" bei Atari ja sehr weit verbreitet, sei es beim XL/XE
oder den diversen Atari-DOS-PCs.

Epilog: *Alles andere* waren damals "komische Diskettenlaufwerke". ;-)
