>> One of the most annoying aspects of the Mac Desktop is that >> something goes wrong, and boom, my address book is duplicated. >> >> Is there any third party tool to do this? >> In the Palm desktop, under File, choose Export and export the contacts as a CSV file. Once you've got the CSV file there are any number of ways to dedupe it. There's a program called Quicklist that does it, but I like to use sort|uniq, i.e., sort my.csv|uniq|tee mynew.csv. Once you've cleaned it up make another backup copy of your contacts saved under the default file format. (Let me repeat that : ONCE YOU'VE CLEANED IT UP MAKE ANOTHER BACKUP COPY OF YOUR CONTACTS SAVED UNDER THE DEFAULT FILE FORMAT. You need to be able to get back to where you were if something goes wrong.) Now that you've got your clean csv file and your complete recent backup, delete all your contacts to get a clean slate then import your clean csv file. If it gets messed up delete them all again but import the backup. To be completely thorough you could test both the backup and the new csv file by adding a new Palm device and login to the desktop. You need cygwin or linux or something to use sort and uniq but they're free.
