Fusion is nice. After you've used a given app (say Photoshop) a few times, suddenly it loads much quicker. But it doesn't improve processing much (or probably at all). For photos I'd store "in-work" photography on the iMac and library stuff in 2 or more external drives keeping one "off site" if possible. So no real need for 3 TB (though my previous iMac had 2 after I upgraded it from 500 GB.) My curreny iMac has 1 TB / Fusion. I'd put money on memory (order 8 GB standard from Apple; then add 16 GB from Crucial (et al) to get up to 24 GB) rather than the internal HD.
