That's exactly what it does.

On the mac mini I have, there is no mic or camera but when a call comes in
on the iPhone, it not only shows the notification (with caller id) but plays
the ringtone (via external speakers).

You can't answer the call on the mini but can decline it. Otherwise just
pick up the phone and answer the call.

Comes in handy because I tend to leave the phone with the ringer volume down
low but can hear the mac ringing several rooms away.
