Is it the motherboard or the sound card? They each are working in some circumstances. And, yes, I have seen situations like this. > Then show that proof to the seller and if they refuse to take it back > within the return policy guidelines, I'll then agree with you. Show the proof of what? If you bought the sound card from one seller and the motherboard from another which one is the faulty one? > For all I know, you have IRQ 5 being used on one and not the other. > Could be that simple. Nope. In the real world example I ran into, which was years ago so I cannot be that specific, it ended up being an incompatibility between a certain range of serial numbers for the sound card. They had a small difference that they figured would not impact anything - but it did. So once it was eventually tracked down it was clear it was the sound card - but you were looking to blame the motherboard (or the user for having incorrect settings on the motherboard!). -- * OS X / Linux: What is a file? * Mint MATE Trash, Panel, Menu: * Mint KDE working with folders: * Mint KDE creating files: * Mint KDE help: * Mint KDE general navigation: * Mint KDE bugs or Easter eggs? * Easy on OS X / Hard on Linux: * OS / Word Processor Comparison:
