Other places will likely want to charge for anything they do, and sometimes can end up gouging the customer. Better to bring it into a legitimate Apple retail store where there's a chance Apple will repair it for free - even if it's no longer covered by warranty. -- E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my ravenous SPAM filter.
