From PCAuthority.com.au ... Is Intel about to unleash a new range of Core i9 processors? ------------------------------------------------------------ Leaked slide suggests new high-power 7900-series part is in the pipeline. We've all been blown away by the impressive performance and even more impressive pricing of AMD's new Ryzen chips, and it looks like Intel may have been paying attention, and been holding something in reserve to counter its resurgent competitor. Now, fair warning. This leak comes via the Anandtech forums, as picked up by Guru3D, and is based not only on a photo of a PowerPoint slide, but it's a work-in-progress slide to boot - and in German. So, this is far, far from final. But if we're to take it at face value, Intel's got two new Core i7 chips, and four Core i9 processors around the corner. The top-line SKU is the Core i9 7920x with 12 cores and 24 threads, and 16.5MB of L3 cache.  We don't have any clocks for that part yet, but the next down in the range is more fully fleshed out. The Core i9 7900x boasts 10 cores and 20 threads, a base clock of 3.3GHz, and boost up 4.5GHz via Turbo 3.0. Both these high-end CPUs also feature 44 PCIe lanes.
