Those in positions of authority must be held to a *higher* standard than the average citizen, who pays them to use calm and civil methods to protect and serve the general public. When cops do the opposite of protecting and wrongly kill an innocent civilian, and the system protects them rather than fixing the core issue, it's an attack on the ideals the citizens of this country hold dear. Rather than being deemed acceptable, it should cause those in power to implement real systemic and social change. The reason people are so pissed off about this today is they don't see significant change happening. Meanwhile more innocent civilians are killed.
