You're thinking of the Nikon FM-10. The EM, FG and FG-20, where all made by Nikon. The series E lenses were made with plastic outside parts, all the optical parts were metal and glass. Some of them are the same designs as the regular Nikon lines, some of them are simpler. In any case, optically they were top notch, although they were significantly cheaper and lighter. The FM-10 was made by Cosina and sold in various forms as an Olympus and at least one other brand. It finally ended up as the Voightlander rangefinder cameras. A prototype digital version for Epson was shown at a show, but never put into production. It was not the first outsourced camera Nikon sold, the Nikkorex-F (precoursor to the Nikkormat) (1962) was made by Mamiya. Geoff. -- Geoffrey S.
