Were there any demo scene parties So. CA, USA back in the late 90s?

My friends and I started getting into the demo scenes by watching them 
like Future Crew's Second Reality. We were jealous that there were big 
demo scene parties in Europe. Were there any in Southern California, 
United States, back then?
