I don't know of any.  But The Manager is a MultiFinder-like-substance 
that would open the door to running another app without exiting what 
you're doing (given enough RAM, of course).  It doesn't work with all 
GS/OS apps; and the usual gymnastics with P8 apps still apply.  But it's 
worth looking into.
