Thanks Druck but it downloaded as a Zip file containing a makefile, a Utility caleed Where, 2 empty directories o & s respectively. As there was no idiots guide, what do I do with all those bits? (Be careful how you answer.....

"Where" (utility) probably ought to go in your Library so you can type it from the command line from anywhere. This is: !Boot.Library - just drop it in there The "s" directory is for assembler source, the "o" directory is for object files (a sort of intermediate step between assembled code and the final executable file), and the MakeFile is the bit that tells the build environment how to take the file in the "s" folder and turn it into the "Where" executable. ALL OF THIS CAN BE IGNORED. [thinks: there's nothing in "s"? seems a bit odd giving the makefile without the sources to build...] Best wishes, Rick.

Except with the teeny-tiny caveat that it would appear that when this
problem manifests itself, the machine freezes so keyboard is
non-responsive... The best he could do is see what is there *now*, but
with a pinch of salt as if the boot sequence isn't working entirely
correctly (ref. Organiser loading but Menu Bar skipped [*]) it might not
be accurate in fault condition.
Best wishes,
Rick.
* - It may be that Menu Bar polls a few times before putting up an icon
bar icon so it is actually loaded but just not 'visible'?

I've now got "Where" safely in Boot.Library. The fault hasn't reared its ugly head again so I shall let sleeping dogs lie for the moment. Fingers crossed........... Bah! Your ISP (Waitrose) appears to be using Giganews as the newsgroups provider, which explains why the posting date as understood by the server has a -6h00 timezone attribute; plus notices in the header yacking about the DMCA [no, that's not an old song resurrected as a gay anthem, it's a ill-conceived wide-ranging bit of half-assed *American* legislation, one of a number that attempts to make people *criminals* for basic circumvention of copy protection, because ranking a software pirate akin to, say, a murderer, is simpler and cheaper than either using existing copyright laws correctly, or changing their g*ddamn business model to reflect the fact that the wired revolution has not only happened, but it happened a generation ago... or maybe just accepting that charging the same (and sometimes *more*) for a digital download than a real actual CD is, you know, gonna irk some people]. Replies to the slagging of Big Media probably best directed to alt.flame... ;-) > Bah! Humbug! / Merry Christmas (Delete as applicable) I'm in the Bah! Humbug! camp this year. There's a lot of work on for the company I work for, so we don't get a Christmas break. Meh. I'll have to feed a big SD card into my video recorder. At least I was able to pick up a copy of the Christmas RadioTimes today in town (€4,95 - flippin' highway robbery; but I find it a LOT easier to deal with printed paper with downwards columns than the side-to-side EPG-style layout of, well, EPGs (duh!) and sites like www.tvguide.co.uk). I just hope there's some stuff worth watching (recording)! Best wishes, Rick.
