This is the helpfile I made myself when I had to rebuild my RiscPC.... Configuration & Setting Up ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ( n.b. Commands specific to ideA / Unipod interface use are marked # ) (note: SHIFT power on stops Boot file from being run) ............................................................................. Possibly Check state of Hard Drive - press F12 and type # IDEFS Verify :4 ............................................................................. Delete Power on resets all CMOS ram - use with caution r power on resets some CMOS ram see user guide pp 211 - 217 ############################################################################# Ensure ADFS hard drive is unconfigured - use Boot Configuration window-> discs # Press F12 to get to a command line or choose "Task Window" from the Task manager icon bar menu - far right of iconbar *Unplug CDFSSoftATAPI (reverse this with RMReInitSoftATAPI) (Use this if you have trouble with the CD drive being recognised * Configure FileSystem set to IDEFS from ADFS # * Configure IDEFSDisc 0 enables auto detect # * Configure EDEDiscs 0 or use Boot setup to do this stops system looking for IDE old discs # * Configure Boot tells computer to run Boot file * Configure IDEFSDRive 4 Configures drive 4 as default for booting # (use Boot Configuration window to set the number of CD r/w needed) * IDEFS Mount : 4 Opt 4, 2 I had to re-flash the Unipod to get it to work again as it had stopped performing for some reason. If there are problems with Unipod stopping you reaching desktop, remove jumper near backplane. You can now go to desktop & re-flash if necessary, then replace the jumper. Bit convoluted but hope this sheds light somewhere. I have fuller instructions if you feel you need them. I can send them off-list. Good luck, -- Chris Newman
