I don't /need/ to. I do it because I /can/. But given I may have used f9
as <Ctrl>U thousands of times.....

But because, um, it's also easier to press one key rather than two.
<ctrl>U is not always easy single-handed on this cluttered desk. As I do
not spend the majority of my time writing words, so to speak, I more
often have one hand on a mouse, and only one hand free for two keyboards.

Please don't feel free to decry people's macro choices otherwise we will
agree with you and all come to the conclusion that all keyboards
shortcuts are completely unecessary because you can always type stuff
requiring two or more keypresses in full every time. :-p
