Well I would just follow the golden rules. Make a backup of your current 
version somewhere safe (I assume you do regular backups of your programs 
anyway).

The standalone version has a 'Discs' folder within it with all your drive 
connections.

Once backed up just drop the new version on the old and then check you 
still have your discs folder contents within the updated LanMan98.

Remember to reboot before using the new version to make sure everything 
starts cleanly.
