The next meeting of the RISC OS User Group Of London will be:
Desktop Themes
Presented by Paolo Zaino
Monday 20th April 2026, 7:45pm
The Duke of Sussex
(upstairs in the Petworth Room from 6.30pm)
23 Baylis Road, London, SE1 7AY
https://rougol.jellybaby.net/venue.html
Also online via Zoom, meeting open from 7.30pm
https://rougol.jellybaby.net/meetings/
As the topic of customising the look of the RISC OS desktop has been a
popular subject recently, this month we will be looking at the best ways
to spruce up the appearance of your system.
Paolo will talk about his ExtTheme application which aims to make it easy
to install and switch between themes. It integrates with, but greatly
expands on, the built in theme support while also supporting the theme
formats used by earlier systems. He will also show off the themes he has
created, including dark mode.
If there is time we will also look at a few of the themes created by
others, such as Martin Eastwood's Frosted and Obsidian, which also include
completely new icon sets for many common applications.
Join us to see the themeing possibilities, and maybe be inspired to create
and share your own.
Matt Godbolt video
==================
The video of last month's presentation by Matt Godbolt about JSbeeb and
Compiler Explorer is now available:

Next meeting - Mon 18th May
===========================
ARX and the Acorn Palo Alto Research Centre, Jim Mitchell
Jim Mitchell will be Zooming in from his home in California. Jim managed
the ARM development team and was head of the Acorn Research Centre in Palo
Alto, where the original planned (but failed) Archimedes operating system
ARX was being developed. Very little has ever been heard about what
happened there, so this is a unique chance to find out all about it.
Directions to the venue by car (there is parking directly outside the pub
on Coral Street) and public transport (recommended!) are on the website:
