Hi, On 2013-06-11, Maximus <gladiator@thearena.com> wrote: > Is there a way to safely shred email messages? This is pretty less about pgp, isn't it? Though it's about comp.security in general. If mails are saved as files (e. g. Maildir) and you've got access to the FS: Shred files: man shred (outta coreutils-package) Otherwise, unknown mail-saving method, you aren't root on the mailserver, or whatever: I don't see a chance to force a forensic secure deletion. But if your messages were encrypted who cares about this issue? Furthermore you don't have control of used transport-channels. Someone might have saved your e-mail on the transportation and you can't expect all intermediate stations did use encryption. So an e-mail always leaves some trails. -- Yours Sincereley Kai Burghardt
