Hi everyone,
I tried to find a solution to t= his using Google, but I failed=E2=80=A6 I=E2=80=99m wondering if this is exp= ected behavior of bind9 or if this is configurable=E2=80=A6

I have a d= omain configured and my server is the authoritative name server for this dom= ain.
My server is reachable via IPv4 and IPv6 address.
2 records are c= onfigured like this:

dls-koe.gvs.local.      &n= bsp;          2h  &nb= sp;  A      192.168.100.251<= /p>

dls-koe-v6.gv= s.local.           &n= bsp;  2h     AAAA   2001:4dd0:f9c0:100::2= 51

&nb= sp;

I have clien= ts that are running with IPv4 and IPv6 address at the same time and are conf= igured with one of the FQDNs above. When the client is sending a query for o= ne of the names, it directly sends an A and AAAA query.
Now for example: T= he client sends an A query for =E2=80=9Cdls-koe-v6.gvs.local=E2=80=9D, which= is only configured as AAAA record in the server. I now would expect the ser= ver to reply with =E2=80=9Cno such name=E2=80=9D, but it doesn=E2=80=99t.Other example: The client sends an AAAA query for =E2=80=9Cdls-koe.gvs.loca= l=E2=80=9D, which is only configured as A record in the server. Same result.=

My question is: Why is bind not replying with =E2=80=9Cno such name=E2= =80=9D in this case? Is this expected behavior? Maybe a configuration issue?=

Thanks in advance for any help,
Sven
