The BIOS claims that VT is enabled, though. Shouldn't it be able to detect
whether the CPU does or does not support it?
I went ahead and tried to install eCS from the .iso images anyway. It
looked like it was working, up to a point where at "install phase 2" it
got stuck on "installing Java", even after leaving it overnight (which is
something I remember seeing in eCS 1.1, and which seemed not to affect
subsequent operations).
I sent a C-A-D and the machine dutifully rebooted from the "hard disk"
--with config.sys errors related to NETBEUI.OS2 (4 in all, net/lan
related). Eventually I got a partial desktop but not much seems to work
(except opening and closing folders, and simple command-line programs
such as tedit) and there's a lot missing; in particular the startup folder
is empty.
