There are 3.3.5 and 4.somewhat builds available. From the IDE side. Forget it. No OS/2 IDE can beat any modern development environment. But if you are not strictly restricted to OS/2 you could run Eclipse CDT e.g. in a Linux VM and do all the compiling with OS/2. Of course, the other way around (OS/2 in the VM) will also work. Eclipse CDT understands the OS/2 Toolkit files if you set up the include path correctly and provides superior development support also to OS/2 programmers. Unfortunately the underlying GUI library and the recent Java Versions are not available for OS/2, so Eclipse won't run native within OS/2. If you need a debugger, you have the choice between IBM icsdebug, icsdebug and maybe watcom. The latter looks not too pretty but is functional. The good news is, icsdebug works with gcc almost flawlessly. The bad news: it is not freeware. For all software I mentioned so far any OS/2 version with latest Fixpacks from Warp4 up will perform as well. This also includes eComStation, at least up to 1.2R. The most important restriction is currently the hardware support. Especially recent graphics hardware is not really supported. Panorama is at best a compromise. This could be a motivation to put OS/2 into a VM. Inside the VM the OS/2 version does not count that much. All versions I mentioned will work fine. Marcel
