The latter for historical reasons, and because it supports more OS's (e.g. very small Win98 machines). Unfortunately modern hardware is not always well supported by Linux, many consumer machines (desktop...netbook) only come with Windows device drivers, nothing available for other platforms. That's why I mostly use the supplied Windows for the host, and whatever else in VM's. DoDi
